DESCRIPTION
Umbrian is a Third-Person Puzzle Platformer where the player is tasked with using a combination of spells, running and jumping to traverse deep caves. Set in a tranquil Aztec inspired world, the game is focused on immersion, puzzle solving and clearing obstacles, with no monsters, enemies or other combat.
UI DESIGN
On this project I was tasked with User Interface Design. I began by looking at similar examples of UI's that had 'solved' similar problems, namely displaying an active ability, as well as a selection of other abilities that the player could move into the main active slot. After this I made a few mockups of the UI, making small changes and improvements based on feedback from the team. After this I moved in engine, adding in the functionality of swapping icons around from the ability bar to the main active slot in the top left. Finally I added the finished icons made by our UI artist (https://www.artstation.com/bartlomiejbyczkowski), and then added in the 'behind the scenes' functionality for actually using the abilities.
